I went through three rounds of deep depression and anxiety when everything in my life was kicked out from under me. But deep down, I knew there had to be a reason for this, and I had to figure it out for myself. As I worked through them on my own, I gained several insights that helped me to transform my life. To truly understand and address anxiety, we need to look beyond surface-level symptoms and examine the intricate interplay between our mind, emotions, and feelings in creating our life experiences, as well as understand the effects of the undercurrents of Change and the Paradigm of Scarcity that permeate all life experiences. It’s through this deeper understanding that we can begin to recognize our own underlying issues and transform our lives into something more meaningful and fulfilling.

Fundamentals

To unlock your potential, we need to strip away the various layers of our being. When stripped to the barebones, we only have our mind, emotions, and feelings to explore and navigate life. I discovered from my own life experiences that these are fundamental in creating our life experiences. I’d like you to reflect upon these:

  • Our beliefs affect the way we think,
  • Past experiences affect our emotions and feelings.

Undercurrents that Permeate Life

We also need to consider the undercurrents that permeate life on our planet — constant Change and the Paradigm of Scarcity.

Change

I’ll delve more into Change in an upcoming blog. For now, we just need to understand that this constant change sets off fear, and we can reduce that fear to:

  • Fear of the unknown,
  • Fear of loss.

There is a greater purpose tied to Change — the push to grow and evolve (more about that in another upcoming blog).

Paradigm of Scarcity

Humans have always existed in a Paradigm of Scarcity — “I don’t have enough”, “I cannot survive without”, and “there’s not enough to go around”. Scarcity exists in all manner of things, in all aspects of life — resources, personal power, status, health, wealth, love, and so on.

This scarcity often creates the need to fight for survival and gain the upper hand, however subtle that may be. This eventually leads to conflict, resulting in haves and have-nots. The end result is one group fears loss of control; while others feel powerless and trapped in unpalatable situations. Eventually, the lids blow off in all these situations, creating more fear.

The Paradigm of Scarcity is by design (more about that in an upcoming blog). For all the sophistication and advancements humanity has made in modern society, we have failed to rise above the elements of scarcity in our lives.

Human Responses to These Conditions

Some people can flow effortlessly with life, while others have difficulty. What’s the difference?

Those who can flow effortlessly with life have positive mental attitudes, emotions, and feelings about life, and flexibility to flow with Change. Others struggle with their inflexibility to flow with life due to:

  • Rigid beliefs that affect their thinking
  • Unresolved emotions and feelings that get in the way.

Solutions

I’m sharing some insights from my own transformation so you can also experience profound transformation.

Unlocking the Underlying Issues

Here are some gentle suggestions for you to reflect upon:

  • You have the power within to decipher your own thoughts, emotions, and feelings. Stop fighting and accept the experience, even briefly, in order to unlock the messages.
  • Transform your experiences by listening and observing what is going on within — what do they tell you? Look for the subtle messages in each life experience.
  • Are you stuck in unpalatable situations in some aspects of your life? Are you ignoring the “writing on the wall”? It is those aspects of life that will often be troublesome.
  • Look at each aspect of life and answer yourself honestly — “am I truly happy?”, “am I truly satisfied?”
  • Are you at a crossroads in your life?
    • Are you able to recognize the rigidity in your thinking?
    • Do you have unresolved emotions and feelings?
    • You have the opportunity to heal and move forward. Staying the course and putting up with it leads to stagnation, which can eventually lead to crisis.
  • Life is pushing you to grow and evolve.
